The Daily Awesome - Fitness
So, my friends, I have fibromyalgia. My awesome today was to walk 3 miles to the waterfront and purchase fresh fish to make my own homemade sushi. I walked the 3 miles back as well, instead of opting for the bus. I could have driven, but I didn't. I chose to do something that is very hard for me - walk! My ankle, knee and hip are killing me, but I made it.

Cheers, everyone. Keep up the good work.

That sucks Meg, and it makes you even more impressive for making all those things! Also, making sushi could totally fall under my goal of 'cooking more awesome stuff', it looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt's really easy once you learn how to cut the fish. The hard part is the rice - you have to fan it and stir it while it's cooling. Also, finding a place that will tell you what fish sushi grade is difficult. Most stores don't want to be liable. Look for salmon with clearly defined stripes or start with cooked crab and shrimp. I live in Seattle, so I have Pike Place Market at my disposal. If you want some more tips, feel free to contact me.
DeleteExcellent work tackling a challenge! I've let physical issues hinder my progress in the past, so I know how easy it can be to use them as an excuse. Good for you for not falling into that trap.
ReplyDeleteThanks! My entire leg hurt the next day, but it was worth it. Today, I did 80 jumping jacks and am looking for a place to ride my bike to and back. I'm not allowed to hate my thighs unless I am working to shrink them. ;)
DeleteThat's a great way to look at it; probably a philosophy I should adopt myself.
